Buyers searching for a pipe wholesale market in Chennai usually mean the George Town stretch around Parry's Corner and Thambu Chetty Street, where pipe, plumbing and hardware counters have traded side by side for generations. Asha Enterprises has operated at 217, Thambu Chetty Street since 1982, in the middle of that market.
Why the market is where it is
George Town's wholesale trade grew around the port and central Chennai. Contractors, plumbers and hardware retailers still come here to compare counters in a single trip rather than travelling across the city.
Shopping the market well
Carry a written list with product type, size, pressure class or standard, brand preference and quantity. Comparing counters is only reliable when every quote describes the same specification.
